On Presidents' Day, United Methodists from Nevada Congregations came together in Carson city in support of homeless children and thier families.

Bishop Beverly Shamana spoke in a spirited worship service at the 1st United Methodist Church in Carson City. Over 200 people, mostly United Methodists and representatives of the Jewish Faith, Evangelical Lutherans, Roman Catholics, Presbyterians and Episcopalians marched from the chruch to the State Legislative Building. The children and youth led the way singing "We are marching in the light of God."

At the Legislative Steps, Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie welcomed the People of Faith Rally. Lisa Foster, the Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff, read the Govoernor's Executive Order creating a new Interagency Commission on Homelessness. The President's newly appointed Executive Director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homeless, Philip Mangano also addressed the Rally about his passion to abolish homelessness.

Both children and youth were seen throughout the halls of the 3 story building delivering a specially prepared booklet on child poverty to eah legislator's office, followed by a soup lunch provided by Methodist Men and UMW, which several legislators attended. The People of Faith Rally was hosted by our congregation and was organized under the leadership of Sharon Rogers and Rev. Rob.

Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie sent this email: "We definitely met our goal of raising public awareness around homelessness - major media coverage throught the state and a definite increase to the issue within the building, among the legislators."
